It’s a busy time of year if you’re a jogging junkie. People have been gearing up for Sydney Running Festival and Melbourne Marathon … and don’t forget City2Sea just around the corner. But you don’t need to be a professional athlete to enjoy yourself out on the track.
You really just have to remember a couple of things….
Stretch!
This is really important, the last thing you want is to pull a hamstring or get a cramp. It’s really easy to neglect this part of your exercise regime but it’ll really help decrease your chance of injury. Pro athlete or not, stretching is something everybody needs to do.
Crank out the tunes.
Jogging isn’t all physical, you also need to be mentally prepared. Motivation is all in your music choice! Yep, that means pumping out Eye of the Tiger while you do your warm up! Keep the tunes going and you’ll be surprised how much further you manage to run.
You need the perfect jogging partner.
This could mean your best mate, your ipod, yourself or even something to munch on. Whatever keeps you motivated to keep going, take it with you.
When the munchies hit have something ready.
Bring something small and portable to give you energy. Our Nature Valley bars are a great pit stop snack on any jog or long trek. Plus they’re packed with the goodness of whole grains and no artificial flavours or colours!
Jogging isn’t for everyone but it doesn’t just have to be for the athletes. So go on, try out our tips and see where you get to!
