Central Mexico is well known for its fantastic scenery, including its volcanic landscape, and its thriving food culture.
The taquerias (restaurants specialising in tacos) of Central Mexico are famous for their excellent cuisine. These taquerias are the inspiration for Restaurante’s Pork Al Pastor tacos. At these taquerias, the meat is grilled on a traditional shwarma spit, and dressed with guajillo chilies, fresh lime juice, local herbs and extra virgin olive oil. Crispy and browning, the pork is alive with flavour, and this meat brings gorgeous Pork Al Pastor tacos to life.

Fast facts:
- The capital of Mexico – Mexico City – resides in the Central Mexico region, and has a population of 19.2 million.
- Other top cities to visit in Central Mexico include Guanajuato, Puerto Vallarta and Queretaro.
- Volcanic plateau makes up much of Central Mexico.
Two main volcanoes are the Papayo (a small lava dome on the crest of the Sierra Nevada range), and the Iztaccihuati volcano (the third highest mountain in Mexico). Iztaccihuati means ‘Woman in White’ because when seen from the Valley of Mexico, the mountain looks like a sleeping woman’s portrait.
Festivals:
- Festival de México
This festival runs for two weeks in mid-March. It is a huge festival, hosted in some 50 venues scattered throughout the city where national and international acts including dance, music, theatre and opera are performed. Most of the action unfolds in the downtown Historic Centre.
- Fiesta de Santa Cecilia
On 22nd Nov, people gather in Mexico City's famed Mariachi Square to pay homage to St. Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians. Mariachis and regional musicians from northern Mexico and the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz descend on Plaza Garibaldi for a tribute concert and an open-air party that involves dance, drink and song.

The cherry on top of these festivals is Central Mexico’s gorgeous food, which includes some seriously delicious tacos. To continue to party in your own home, try the new Restaurante Pork Al Pastor tacos for yourself, and be amazed by the exquisite tastes of Central Mexico.
